HOW IS BOTOX USED?
Botox®, temporarily paralyzes the facial muscles by blocking nerve impulses that can cause facial wrinkles while giving the skin a refreshed, smooth appearance. Studies have shown that Botox® can be effective in reducing migraine headaches, muscle spasms in the neck and eyes, and even excessive sweating.
USES FOR BOTOX
Apart from its cosmetic applications, Botox® is also used as a muscle relaxant. Clinical treatments include excessive teeth grinding, jaw clenching, patients with chronic TMJ, and facial pain. As a minimally invasive alternative to surgical treatments, Botox® offers relief to patients who have trouble adjusting to new dentures, lip augmentation for those with high lip line cases, and uses in orthodontic cases for retraining facial muscle strength.
For most patients, Botox® can last for 3-4 months, and can often take 5-7 days to take its full effect. Cosmetic lines and wrinkles will improve for the most part, but may not be completely eliminated.
